Shapeshifting materials in car interiors

Based on autonomous vehicles,  BMW and MIT’s Self-Assembly Lab announced their 3-D printed materials which can change it’s shape from one state to another. It could be the breakthrough material which can be built in future cars to customize car interiors. The materials is made out of silicone, which can be inflatable or stiff through a pressure system.

 

 

 

 

This adaptive material technology points towards a future of transformable surfaces for adaptive human comfort, cushioning and impact performance.
